Ba Be Lake - attractive destination for ecotourism trend in Vietnam

For anyone who love the style of ecotourism and would like to spend some days staying away the stress and busy life and becoming closer to nature, a several - day trip to Ba Be Lake, the biggest natural lake in Vietnam and one of 16 most beautiful lakes in the world, is really a good idea to add on your tour in Vietnam.

Ba Be Lake is not a strange destination to Vietnamese. It has become more and more popular to foreign visitors since it recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
Ba Be Lake in the North of Vietnam


Ba Be Lake belongs to Ba Be National Park in Bac Kan Province to the north of Vietnam, about 250 km to the north – west of Hanoi.  It is the intersection of three other lakes named Pe Leng, Pe Nung and Pe Lang. Located at the height of 145m above sea level, it has cool and nice climate with the average temperature around 22 Celsius in the whole year. Therefore, visitors can feel free to choose the time for travelling here. The best time suggested is dry season in winter and spring.

Almost everyone coming Ba Be Lake at the first time has the same feeling of amazement and astonishment when facing up with the fresh, wild and breathtaking beauty here. To your surprise, Ba Be Lake stretches 8km and has the width of 800m. It was formed about 2millions years ago due to continental tectonic activities in the Southeast Asia. Until now, the time seems never to pass here, Ba Be Lake keeps almost of its primitive beauty. It is a large, blue and clean surface area of 500 hectares and always stay calm that make visitors feel to be closest to nature and peaceful experience when boating on the lake.

Ba Be Lake is also a homeland of such many kinds of animal and plants that are rare and need protecting as. Along two side of the lake, you can easily see the green of primary forests.

Puong cave


This is one of the most interesting sites in Ba Be Lake. Like other kart caves, Puong cave has the magical beauty of ancient stalactite cliffs.

Pac Ngoi village, home of Tay people


What is about accommodation in Ba Be Lake? According to many ideas, there will be a regret thing if you do not experience an overnight in Pac Ngoi village, which is the home of Tay people, a minority group of Vietnamese. You can choose to stay right in their house with a suitable price of 80,000 vnd -   100,000 vnd/person/night then enjoy a fresh dawn at the middle of nature with a cup of coffee and watching some first moment of the day of people here.
Besides beautiful sightseeing, Ba Be Lake also has many specialties such as grilled fish, corn wine or Com Lam (rice cooked in bamboo tube) are the things you should not forget to bring home

Ban Gioc waterfall


Ban Gioc is in Cao Bang Provice, at 230km from Ba Be Lake. Ban Gioc waterfall is the site that anyone coming Ba Be Lake also try to visit. If Ba Be Lake brings you a peaceful feeling, Ban Gioc is an extreme side with breathtaking view. Standing by the waterfall and enjoy the cool feeling because of water is so fantastic.
